Five Guys Bacon Cheese Hot Dog Review

Five Guys bacon cheese hot dog looks like a big ol mess. I was not enthuastic about taking my first chomp out of this visually unappealing wiener but I soon discovered looks can be decieving.

Part of my judging process includes taking a bite out of the wiener alone (sans bun, condiments or toppings). This was one of the juciest, tastiest, wieners I’ve had in a while. The perfect ratio of salt and spices. It was definitely love at first bite.

I had the option of adding condiments (grilled onions, relish, mustard, ketchup, etc) to the dog. I’m glad I kept the wiener as is because its full savory flavor didn’t need the help of additional toppings.

One gripe I have about this wiener is that it’s ugly. Another mild complaint (as you might be able to see in the photograph above) the cheese wasn’t fully melted. It took a minute or 2 for the cheese slice to melt from the warmth of the grilled hot dog and toasted bun. That didn’t ruin my joyful wiener experience though it simply educated me for the future. Next time I’ll keep the sandwich in its foil wrapper for a minute or 2 prior to opening so the cheese can fully melt.

Summary

A juicy grilled filleted wiener topped with crispy bacon and American cheese on a lightly toasted white bun make the perfect combo. I would have liked the cheese to be a little more melted and the presentation to be more appealing. Other than that solely based on flavor Five Guys Bacon Cheese Wiener is magnifique! The price $7.16 including tax a little pricey for no drink or fries included.
