Hot Dog Grill at Marlins Park in Miami

Hot Dog at the Marlins Stadium

Today’s review comes from Hot Dog Grill at Marlins Park. What can I say? Let me start by telling you the Marlins stadium is absolutely beautiful and that there are plenty of food options from sushi to Cuban sandwiches to choose from. Not to mention several concession stands that serve Kayem Franks in a variety of styles.

As I ordered my wiener from Hot Dog Grill I noticed there was no Kayem sign. So like any responsible wiener reviewer would do I asked the cashier what brand of hot dogs they serve. Apparently this was a complicated question. He had no clue and kept saying “beef”. I should mention there was a language barrier and he only spoke….well I’m not sure what? I then proceeded to Google search on my phone and showed him pictures of Oscar Mayer and Vienna Beef logos. He said “oh”, and called over his manager. His manager didn’t seem to know how to answer the question either (he also spoke….insert mystery language) and told me to “wait” then stepped in back. A minute later he came out with a cardboard box and said “brand” while pointing at writing on a side panel that read “Meat Market Foods”. All I could think was gross, but smiled and politely said thank you.

Summary

Overall this steam cooked dog was just yuck. The taste, I can’t even explain it. O.k. I’ll try it was like textured Silly Putty laced with massive amounts of salt and artificial beef flavor. Yup, that good. The bun was semi stale and the addition of condiments (mustard and ketchup) couldn’t perk up this dog. It was gross and I ended up throwing half of it in the garbage. At $8.00 this hot do hurt my wallet and my stomach (literally).
