Casey’s Corner Chili Cheese Dog Review
For me a trip to Disney’s Magic Kingdom is not complete with out stopping at Casey’s Corner for a hot dog. I usually stick with the Mac and Cheese hot dog or try out one of their monthly special dogs (this month was the Poutine Diggity Dog…pass). On this visit I went for the Chili-Cheese All-Beef Foot Long Hot Dog a regular on their menu but one I never tried.
After my morning adventures in Tomorrow Land I headed over to Main Street and arrived at Casey’s early enough in the day (11 a.m.) where everything should have been fresh, no stale buns sitting around for hours, piping hot chili. But that’s not what happened. For the first time I was actually disappointed with my Casey’s order. $12.49 for a mediocre hot dog and choice of fries or apple slices (of course I got the fries, who eats apple slices with a hot dog…CRAZY!) a drink wasn’t even included. Hopefully this was just a fluke since all my other dining experiences at Casey’s have been good.
Measuring Up Casey's Corner Foot Long Chili Cheese Dog
Summary
At first sight something kind of looked “off”. The cheese on my foot long Chili Cheese dog was completely unmelted. It was as though the hot dog or chili were not warm enough to melt it. Upon first bite of the hot dog (minus the bun and toppings) everything went well the flavor, texture and girth of the hot dog were pleasing, a salty, mildly smokey, seasoned meat cylinder from heaven. Then came my first bite reaction to the whole enchilada (bun, toppings- chili & cheese). To which I say MEH. The bun was stale, the chili was cold as well as straight out the can tasting and the unmelted hard cheese was doing me no favors.
Casey’s Corner usually turns out some pretty good eats but not this time.
